Harnessing performance data to power Volkswagen Group's retail sales

Challenge

Volkswagen Group was using a legacy platform called the Performance Portal to collect and share business performance data with its dealer network. The platform was not user friendly and didn’t add value to the dealers, who found it a chore to use, meaning that VWG head office was not able to successfully collect essential data from the Network and drive dealer performance the way it wanted to.

Solution

Wonderly proposed a new technical solution linked with the Hub portal, the daily news website for dealers that we built and manage. By linking Performance to Hub, it makes the user journey simpler (one less portal for the dealers to log into) and familiar (using the same intuitive interface as Hub). A game-changing dashboard enables dealers to see how they are tracking against KPIs and engage with content that helps them improve their performance. The portal enables users to carry out a range of important tasks such as weekly sales forecasting, checking compliance against showroom guidelines, approval of annual contracts and viewing progress against bonus targets.

Now that the core solution is in place, with dealers going in daily to check their performance against Bonus data, for example, or weekly to enter their forecasting numbers, VWG can start to target the audience with best practice guidance and inspiring content that will help drive improved performance.

Results

VWG have seen improved cost efficiencies as a result of using one supplier for Hub and Performance rather than two. Importantly the levels of engagement in the site have improved substantially resulting in improved compliance and results:
